Kreeda Bharati sports festival begins in Jamshedpur

Jamshedpur: A multi-sport festival featuring kabaddi, volleyball and boxing, organised by Kreeda Bharati Jamshedpur Mahanagar, was inaugurated on Saturday at the Agrico Ground. The event has drawn large participation, with 100 kabaddi teams, 21 volleyball teams and 180 boxers competing in various categories.

The inaugural ceremony was attended by chief guest Inder Agrawal, Department Sanghchalak of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh. Other prominent guests included Kreeda Bharati State Treasurer and social worker Vikas Singh, Jharkhand Boxing Association Secretary Anand Bihari Dubey, Treasurer Rajeev Verma, MP’s representative Sanjeev Kumar, Ajay Sinha, Mahanagar Karyavah Ravindra Narayan Singh, Tridev Singh, Munna Agrawal, Vijay Verma, Kabaddi Association President Bhupendra Singh and Amrik Singh.

Presiding over the event, Shivshankar Singh welcomed the guests and assured full cooperation from all associations. He also appealed for collective efforts to help include kabaddi in the Olympic Games. Addressing the gathering, chief guest Inder Agrawal highlighted kabaddi as a traditional “soil-born” sport and urged people to adopt sports as an integral part of life for good health.

The competitions are being conducted under the supervision of 35 kabaddi, 15 boxing and 15 volleyball officials. Kabaddi matches are being played across four age groups for both men and women. Boxing events are being held in 45 weight categories, ranging from sub-junior to junior boys and girls. Volleyball matches are largely in the women’s category, with teams from Jadugora, Atomic Energy, KPS Mango and KPS Gamharia reaching the semifinals. Semi-final bouts have also begun in boxing
