KPS Mango wins opening match of B.M. Modak basketball tournament

Jamshedpur : In order to spread good means to skill development(conditions, coordination), developing personality, creating healthy lifestyle and also providing experience of movement amongst the students of the city schools, Govind Vidyalaya, Tamulia is organising the 5th B.M. Modak Inter School Basketball Tournament 2018 from 27– 29 November, 2018 at the Vidyalaya Premises. Total of schools are participating.

Managing Director of the School, Dr. B.D. Sharma, in the presence of Chief Guest Pragya Singh, graced the occasion by lighting the lamp and inaugurating the tournament. He motivated the students for their involvement in games and sports as it helps in grooming the personality of the students. Dr. Sharma said that every parent expect from their ward that they become learned and that’s why they have chosen Govind Vidyalaya, as the temple of learning. He added “a sound brain lives in a sound body”. Therefore, education and sports has to go hand in hand under the guidance of learned teachers.

Our esteemed Chief Guest in her words expressed to all the participating teams and the students of the school to utilize their time efficiently and excel in every area. She further added that participation in sports event helps in the development of social competencies providing good opportunity to transmit and acquire values like fair play, cooperation, devotion, subordination of individual interests, stamina, readiness, quick decision making and pure honesty. She blessed the School to reach great heights.

Principal Dr. Sunita Sinha, Administrator Miss Krishna Modak, Vice Principal Mr. Arvind Chakraborty, P.R.O. Mr. Rajesh Sharma, Chief of this Panchayat, Ms. Laxmi Mahato, Teachers, Staff members and students were also present during the ceremony. The matches were played under the supervision of referees Vijay Kumar, Sajjad Khan, J. Nagesh Rao, Md. Nizam Ali, Shabanul Haque, Rakesh Mahato, Ramesh Das and Subham.

A small and exciting cultural programme was presented by the students of Govind Vidyalaya. The programme was anchored by Naushad Razia and students from Std XI. The inaugural match was played between KPS, Mango Vs. Vikas Vidyalaya, NH-33 (Boys Team). The match was won by KPS, Mango. The referee for the match was Meraz Khan.

The 3 day tournament will be played under the able guidance and leadership of the sports instructors of the School, Jamshed, N.C.Mandal, Gokulanand Mishra and Sunita Ekka.
