Jamshedpur, Jan. 20: Kerala Public School (KPS), Kadma won the first Inter School “Lakshmi Varadharajan Memorial Inter Project School Quiz” organised by D.B.M.S Lilliput School in memory of its founder member Mrs. Lakshmi Varadharajan on Friday, January 20.
Kerala Public School, NML –Burmamines was the first runner-up while Bal Kalyan Vidya Mandir was the second runner-up of the quiz competition.
It may be noted that Inter Project School Quiz was the dream project of Mrs. Lakshmi Varadharajan.
All the Hindi project schools were invited to participate in this quiz. Seven schools of Jamshedpur participated. It was a team of 3 members from Std. VI, VII and VIII, one from each class.
There was a preliminary round followed by the final round. The quiz was compiled by Mrs. Niraja Badrinarayan and it was conducted by the two students Rahul of Std. IX and Tiya Dey of Std. X (D.B.M.S. Lilliput School).
The host school did not participate in the quiz contest. After the preliminary round, 5 best teams qualified for the final round. The five finalists were – Team Anand from Kerala Public School, Kadma, Team Pramod from Kerala Public School, NML-Burmamines, Team harsh from Kerala Samajam Model School, Team Prasannata from Tarapore Balika Vidyalaya and Team Aamod from Bal Kalyan Vidya Mandir.
First and second rounds were based on G.K. , the third round was a video round, fourth was audio round and the fifth and final round was rapid fire round. It was really a neck to neck competition and it was a treat to watch.
Earlier, Mrs. Rajani Shekhar, President of the school gave the welcome speech and introduced the Chief Guest Mrs. Saroja Ranganathan, Former President of DBMS Career Academy (Mother of renowned cine artist R. Madhavan).
The programme commenced with the lighting of the traditional inaugural lamp by the Chief Guest. All winners were given trophies and certificates.
The Chief Guest in her inspiring speech congratulated and motivated the children. The programme was witnessed by the Chairperson Mrs. B. Neelakantan; Mr. & Mrs. Chandrashekhar, Jt. Chairperson and others.
