Jamshedpur, Jan 7: Sanchit Mukherjee, a student of Kerala Public School, Kadma has brought laurels to city of Jamshedpur by winning the team event at the 65th National School Chess U-17 Boys Championship 2019-20 organized by SGFI (School Games Federation of India) at The Heritage School, Kolkata from 21 to 24 November 2019. Sanchit was selected to represent the CISCE team and was the only participant from Eastern India. On Tuesday, KPS School director Sharat Chandran, KPS Kadma Principal Sharmila Mukherjee felicitated Sanchit during the assembly. The school management wished him the best for future endeavours. He will be felicitated by CISCE Council in the National Conference scheduled later in the year.

Sanchit has won several chess tournaments across the country. He secured the 2nd position in the ASISC Zonal Chess Tournament organized by Dayanand Public School, Sakchi, Jamshedpur. He bagged first position in ASISC Regional Chess Tournament organized by Don Bosco School, Patna. He was selected at ASISC National Chess Tournament organized at Amritsar to represent the CISCE team at 65th National School Chess U-17 Boys Championship 2019-20.

Sanchit Mukherjee, a passionate chess player has been playing chess from U.K.G. His journey of achievements started with events like the Inter-School Chess Tournament. He is also an active participant of the chess ratting game under the able guidance of Neeraj Mishra. The constant support from his parents Indrajit Mukherjee and Sharmishtha Mukherjee has helped him sail through the hurdles and reach the zenith.
