Kolhan youths get jobs in hospitality Sector

Jamshedpur, Dec 12: How hard is it for rural youth to find a job in the five star hotels of metros?

It is really tough as you are not allowed to stand if you don’t know English specially in the hospitality sector.

It’s a dream come true for youths of Kolhan division as Tata Steel Rural Development Society (TSRDS) in collaboration
with Pratham, an NGO, and Indian Hotels (Tata Group) which is running 3-month course on Hospitality Training for youths from rural areas at its Kolabera Center have helped the youths to get placed in five star hotels across the country.

The first batch of 10 youth completed its training in September 2013 with nine youth securing a job each with Hotel Kailash International, Barmer while one bagged a job with Ginger Hotel, Jamshedpur.

The second batch, which started in September 2013, has recently completed its training. Out of a total of 10 youth who successfully completed the training, 4 have been placed with Lemon Tree Hotel, Goa, 2 with Hotel Taj, Chandigarh and 1 with Ginger, Jamshedpur.

95% of these youth belong to SC / ST communities, said Biren Bhutta, Chief, Corporate Sustainability Services, Tata Steel at a press meet today.

Bhutta further said that training for the 3rd batch, comprising 21 youth (6 girls and 15 Boys), is underway and will be completed in February 2014 with placements scheduled for January 2014.

For the 4th batch, selection process has already started. As on date, a total of 14 youth have been selected and more
youth are expected to get selected.

In near future, there also exits a plan to start a course on Food & Beverages at the Kolabera center, added Bhutta. Sanjay, head of Urban Services, Tata Steel was also present at the meet.
