Jamshedpur, May 9: Hundreds of students staged a demonstration before the main entrance of Kolhan University in favour of their various demands on Monday. They also blocked the Tata-Hata Bypass Road for several hours under the banner of KU Chhatra Sangh.
Leading the agitation, Chhatra Sangh secretary Subodh Mahakud said the purpose of the agitation was to raise 16 main demands of the students before the university authorities. He alleged that the university had failed to address the demands that were repeatedly raised earlier at various platforms.
Sanatani Pingua, president of Chhatra Sangh’s PG Department, said the students often got assurance from the university high-ups whenever they discussed their problems. But the solutions seem to be ever evasive, he said.
The agitating students held a meeting with the Vice Chancellor for four hours. On getting a written assurance from the VC for taking positive steps within three days, they decided to end the protest programme.
