Jamshedpur, April 28: Karim City College, Sakchi, moved a step closer to launching postgraduate programmes in Economics and History for the academic session 2026–27 after Kolhan University (KU), Chaibasa, conducted formal inspection visits on Tuesday.
The college had earlier submitted a proposal seeking approval for introducing the two PG disciplines. Acting on this, the university constituted separate expert committees to evaluate the infrastructure, academic resources and departmental readiness of the institution.
The Economics inspection team comprised Dr. Suhita Chatterjee (Head, Department of Economics, Graduate School and College for Women) and Dr. Anju Bala Khakha. The History inspection team included Dr. Sanjay Nath (Department of History, Co-operative College) and Dr. Arvind Kumar Singh (Head, Postgraduate Department, Kolhan University). Both teams were chaired by Dr. Parshuram Sial, Dean, Faculty of Social Sciences, Kolhan University.
During the inspection, the teams visited classrooms of both departments and assessed academic facilities including the central library, virtual library and reading room. They evaluated all necessary parameters required for postgraduate programme recognition.
Principal Dr. Mohammad Reyaz coordinated the inspection process, along with departmental heads Dr. Kausar Tasneem and Dr. Ejaz Ahmed. Faculty members Dr. S. Nabi, Dr. Fakhruddin Ahmed, Dr. Mohammad Shahnawaz and Dr. Indrasen Singh extended full cooperation.
The inspection teams will now submit detailed reports to Kolhan University for further consideration and final approval.
