Jamshedpur, Apr 23: Kolhan University has tightened its grip on faculty discipline by issuing a new directive mandating strict adherence to working hours. As per the notification, all teachers—regular as well as contractual—must remain present in their respective colleges from 10:30 am to 5:30 pm. The move comes in compliance with instructions from the Raj Bhavan.
Principals have been tasked with ensuring that no faculty member leaves the college premises during working hours without prior permission. Any deviation will now be officially reported to the University Headquarters. “Leaving before 5:30 pm or not staying for the full seven hours without approval will lead to attendance being affected and subsequent salary deductions,” a university official confirmed.
The university has also made it compulsory for teachers to conduct classes regularly as per the routine and to leave only after completing all assigned duties. A special register will now be maintained by principals, where teachers must record the reason and time if they are required to leave for official work during college hours.
To enforce this new discipline, the principal will verify the attendance register every month and report any discrepancies. The regulation applies to all Postgraduate departments and affiliated colleges under Kolhan University.
Meanwhile, plans to establish a new Government Engineering College in Musabani, East Singhbhum, have hit a roadblock due to land ownership issues. The Forest Department has laid claim to part of the designated land, halting construction until a no-objection certificate is secured.
The university administration has also directed all office staff to adhere to the 10:30 am to 5:30 pm schedule, emphasizing full-day attendance as a fundamental responsibility.
