Jamshedpur, July 19: Kolhan University is gearing up to streamline the upcoming session 2016-17.
The officials are engaged to ensure that the varsity see a proper academic calendar with schedules for every activity that takes place in the university starting from examination dates, sports tournaments, filling of forms and the annual convocation, to be held as per the schedule.
Vice-chancellor of Kolhan University, R.P.P. Singh said that senior officials of the university are working hard to streamline the calendar and ensure working on the same so that every event is held as per the schedule.
“Though, we have academic calendar but that it is never on time. This time we are working in a way to ensure every single event are held on time and students too, follow the same,” said Singh.
The Kolhan University has been postponing its second convocation that was supposed to take place in 2015 but didn’t materialize so far. With the first convocation in July 2012, the second one is yet to take place with four batches 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016 already passed out from the university.
After much wait, the varsity decided that the convocation will take place next month even if with local ministers.
Moreover, examinations for UG and PG courses, filling up of examination forms, registration, admission forms, examination dates, everything will have a certain date to make it easy for students.
The academic calendar however is expected to be launched as soon as the new academic session commences at the end of this month.
He also expressed an urgent need for restructuring of colleges under the varsity to improve standards of education in the region.
“I know there are problems but we will soon sort it out with whatever we can do within the limited resources we have. I have suggested some simple ways to ensure quality,” said Singh.
He has asked the colleges to maintain a register to record time of the classes. So, the teacher needs to mention the time when she enters class and also when she gets out.
This would make it easy even for the principal to know the duration of the classes.
