Kolhan University approaches employment exchange

Jamshedpur : Kolhan University is gearing up to organise placement camps for its passing out students. The five-year-old university has written a letter to the local employment exchange at Golmuri requesting them to organise employment in camps especially in rural and interior colleges. This year the university had its first campus placement with graduate students for ICICI Bank. Around 23 students were selected in the process last month held at Graduate School College for Women.

The university has been trying to make students place in good companies. This time they have approached the Employment exchange which conducts two kinds of job recruitment programme. The university hopes that through a clollaborations, they can provide some benefit to students. Sashi Bhushan Jha, assistant director, Employment Exchange Jamshedpur confirmed that discussions are on and that they will soon take some positive
steps in this matter.

” Yes we have received the letter from the Kolhan University and we are happy that the university is thinking positively for students. We have had some discussions and we have to see which kind of recruitment would be beneficial for students,” said Jha.

The Employment Exchange organises two kinds of recruitment process. The first is the annual job fair where companies come in bulk for the two day fair at his campus. The second one is a recruitment camp where once companies come for a day and recruit people on the same day without much hassle.

Since its inception in 2009 the state managed job fairs organised by State Labour, Employment and Training Department are organised in the district headquarters wherein those already registered with the exchange or those not registered can benefit of job offers. However, due to lack of communication, skilled and semi-skilled literate youths from rural areas usually miss out from participating in the job fairs usually held for two-days.

Ancillaries unit of Adityapur industrial area and also from other parts of the state along with three groups from outside state namely Radiant Textile Limited (Patiala, Punjab), Hero Moto Corp Limited (Dehradun) and Duster Total Solution Private Limited (Bangalore) took part in it.

Firms are offering for graduate engineers, diploma engineers, ITI certificate holders, MBAs, former servicemen and sales executives, there are opportunities for also those who have studied till Class VII or Class XII in entry level jobs of office administration in private sectors.

The Golmuri exchange had offered jobs through rojgar melas to 507 job seekers in 2009, 1648 job seekers in 2010 and till November, 2011 it had provided 1,490 jobs covering Kolhan region.
