Jamshedpur, June 8: A one-day district-level workshop on Foundational Literacy and Numeracy (FLN) was successfully organized at Loyola School’s auditorium in Bishtupur under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner Vijaya Jadhav. The workshop aimed to enhance the implementation of FLN in the district and witnessed the active participation of approximately 300 attendees.
District Education Officer Mrs. Nirmala Barelia, District Social Welfare Officer Mrs. Neha Sanjana Khalkho, District Education Superintendent Ms. Nishu Kumari, Consultant Kamini Kumari from Ranchi, and members of the district-level FLN committee were present, alongside Block Resource Persons (BRPs), Cluster Resource Persons (CRPs), FLN Master trainers, teachers, and principals from 20 identified schools.

The workshop provided valuable guidance on the effective implementation of FLN strategies in the district. The primary objective was to promote basic literacy among children aged 3 to 9 years, enabling them to develop their language skills, comprehension abilities, and writing proficiency in their mother tongue. The Education Working Group aimed to achieve this through a formal educational program called Blended Learning, which utilizes digital and online media to create meaningful learning experiences.
To support FLN initiatives, the Education Department of the Government of Jharkhand has developed a teacher’s guide in Mundari, Kudukh, Santali, Khadiya, and Ho languages. This resource will aid educators in facilitating the learning and development of children within these communities. The district-level workshop served as a platform for knowledge sharing, collaboration, and collective efforts to enhance foundational literacy and numeracy among young learners. The participants left the workshop equipped with valuable insights and strategies to implement in their respective schools and classrooms.
