Kharagpur, June 1: A surprise ticket-checking operation was conducted on June 1, 2025, aboard Train No. 12245 (Howrah–SMVT Duronto Express) by a team from the Kharagpur Division of South Eastern Railway. The drive, spearheaded by Nishant Kumar, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager (Sr. DCM) and Sanjeev Kumar, Assistant Commercial Manager (ACM), covered the stretch from Howrah to Bhubaneswar.
During the inspection, 25 cases of passengers travelling without valid tickets or with irregular documentation were detected. These violators were fined as per railway norms, resulting in a total penalty collection of Rs 76,700. Passengers found travelling on fake PNRs or with manipulated tickets were deboarded at Bhubaneswar station and handed over to local ticket checking staff for further action.
In addition to ticket violations, instances of unauthorized vending were also found onboard. Offenders engaged in illegal vending activities were fined Rs 12,500 on the spot.
