Kharagpur Railway drive against illegal sale of bottled water

Jamshedpur, April 24: South Eastern Railway has launched a campaign against the sale of unauthorized and low quality bottled water on various trains and stations of Kharagpur Division.

Under the same drive Jhargram Commercial Inspector along with ticket checking team of Kharagpur caught some unauthorized vendors with unapproved packaged drinking water in Train No. 12860 Howrah-Mumbai Geetanjali Express without proper travel authorization. All unapproved packaged drinking water was confiscated from him after he was fined for unauthorized travel and vending.

Kharagpur’s Senior DCM Rajesh Kumar has said that this intensive checking campaign will be conducted against the sale of bottled drinking water of unauthorized brands on regular and priority basis. All necessary action will be taken to curb this menace of sale of unauthorized and unhygienic food and beverages on trains and stations. Overcharging by vendors is also a matter of great concern and the department is actively working to curb illegal activities.
