He informed that more than 300 stalls from Jharkhand and other states will be put in which buyers can look forward for items like khadi, wood crafts, terracotta, stone crafts, handlooms, jewellery, bamboo craft, metal craft, jute and tribal paintings among other items which will be on display for sale. Tasar of Chandil, Kuchai silk will be some of the local products on display at the Khadi Mela. Handmade artifacts of Dogra (Brass), Terakota which is not available in the market will be on sale in the mela, added Singh.

The products will be available at discount of 25 to 30 per cent.

Cultural events will be held on all eight days of the fair from 3 pm to 5 pm. Along with this musical evening will be held from 5.30 pm to 9.30 pm daily where singers from Mumbai, Ranchi and Jamshedpur will perform.
We are working hard to promote the rural artisans and craftsmen. Khadi board wants to make the small entrepreneurs and labourers self-sufficient,” said DC Amit Kumar. He informed that a special counter will be put up at the fair to make citizens aware about cashless transactions.

The khadi board, which was formed in 2004, four years after Jharkhand was carved out of Bihar — without capital, infrastructure and even a signage, today has a network of outlets across the state and the country.
“We are confident that people in the city would like the fair. It has been liked by people in the past years and it would be the same this year too. The fair would promote artisans of the state and the country,” said Singh.
