Jamshedpur: In its continued effort to promote livelihood, Jharkhand State Khadi and Village Industries Board handed sewing machines among 29 women. These women who underwent a six-month log training received their sewing machines from Jamshedpur MP Bidyut Baran Mahto at a programme organised at Chamber Bhawan in Bistupur.
The women received the machined at 80 per cent subsidised rate under Centre’s Kaushal Vikas Yojana.
Vice president of Jharkhand Khadi and Village Industries Board Kulwant Singh Bunty; president of Singhbhum Chamber of Commerce and Industries (SCCI) Ashok Bhalotia and other guests and dignitaries were also present on the occasion.
While 50 per cent of the beneficiaries received electronic sewing machines, the rest received manual sewing machines based on the demand. Women had to pay Rs 4500 for the electronic one which otherwise costs Rs 24000 in the market while others paid Rs 1213 as compared to the market rate of Rs 6000 for the manual machines. All the women were also given certificates for their training.
The participants will be taught about making shirts, kurtas, salwar kameez, and many designer style cutting and sewing.
The board has been imparting skill development training and organisingprogrammes to promote entrepreneurship including women entrepreneurs. It conducts specialized training programmes related to Khadi and Village Industries(KVI), management training and Entrepreneurship Awareness Programmes (EAPs).
The duration of the training is flexible and varies from 1 week to 15 month, depending upon the trade, purpose and level of training such as managerial, supervisory or artisan oriented, entrepreneur oriented, skill up-gradation etc.
