Jamshedpur: A Tobacco Control Awareness Session was successfully conducted on Wednesday at Kerala Samajam Model School under the initiative of the Care and Share Club. The programme witnessed the active participation of around 200 students along with 15 teachers.
The session was addressed by Dr. Md. Asad, District Epidemiologist, East Singhbhum; Mousumi Chatterjee, District Consultant, National Tobacco Control Programme (NTCP), East Singhbhum; and Kundan Kumar, Social Worker, NTCP, East Singhbhum. The resource persons sensitized students about the harmful effects of tobacco consumption, its long-term impact on physical and mental health, preventive measures, and the importance of adopting a tobacco-free lifestyle.
The programme was conducted under the able guidance and support of the Principal, Nandini Shukla, along with the Vice Principals, whose encouragement and cooperation played a vital role in the smooth and successful conduct of the session.
The speakers motivated students to act as ambassadors of change by spreading awareness among their peers and families, emphasizing the role of youth in building a healthy and tobacco-free society.
