Jamshedpur: As part of the Holy Week observances, the Kerala Catholic Association (KCA) conducted solemn Good Friday services at the Divya Jyoti Retreat Centre, Sundernagar. Upholding the Syro-Malabar liturgical tradition, the Malayalam Mass witnessed the participation of over 100 faithful from the community.

The Mass was celebrated by Father Sebastian VC, Father Saji VC, and Father George VC, who led the congregation through the deeply spiritual and reflective rituals of Good Friday. In the homily, the significance of Good Friday was powerfully conveyed. Marking the crucifixion of Jesus Christ, the day serves as a solemn reminder of Christ’s ultimate sacrifice for humanity’s sins. The sermon reflected on the betrayal by Judas Iscariot, Jesus’ trial under Pontius Pilate, and His crucifixion — a profound act of love and redemption central to Christian belief. The faithful observed the day with prayer, fasting, and quiet reflection, contemplating the themes of sacrifice, forgiveness, and the hope of resurrection.

The retreat centre echoed with reverence as members engaged in the liturgy, scripture readings, and veneration of the cross. The service was a moving experience for all present, serving as a spiritual anchor in the lead-up to Easter Sunday.
Jolly Mathew, Secretary of KCA, delivered the Vote of Thanks, expressing gratitude to the priests, volunteers, and all attendees for making the event spiritually enriching and well-organized.

The Good Friday Mass is part of the ongoing Holy Week celebrations, which continue at the same venue. The highlight of the concluding events will be the Easter Vigil on Saturday, April 19, 2025, beginning at 7:00 PM, also in Malayalam.
