Jamshedpur, July 6: Members of the Kerala Catholic Association (KCA) celebrated St. Thomas Day with religious devotion and cultural fervour at St. Joseph Church, Golmuri, on Sunday. Founded in 1960, the association currently has over 120 member families in Jamshedpur.
The celebrations began with a Holy Mass at St. Joseph Church. The service was attended by Father P.D. Jhony, Father Francis, Father John Ottaplackal, Father Sebastian Puthenpura, and Father Johny Vidyathil. Father Abin of Sundernagar was the chief celebrant, while Father John Ottaplackal led the liturgical celebration.
A cultural programme presented by the children of KCA members followed the Mass. The event opened with a prayer and welcome address by KCA President Jiju Thomas. The programme featured dance performances, devotional songs, a Kerala traditional song by the women members, guitar and drum performances, and a quiz based on the life of St. Thomas. The celebration concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Secretary Jolly Mathew, followed by a community lunch.
The association also highlighted its commitment to social service through annual initiatives such as helping the poor and needy and organising donation drives. Organisers appreciated the dedicated efforts of all committee members, saying their teamwork ensured the smooth and successful conduct of the celebration.
