Karim City College: Lecture on emissaries and entrepreneurs in 18th century London 

Jamshedpur,July 8: The department of History and Political Science, Karim City College, jointly organised a lecture on Emissaries and Entrepreneurs in 18th Century London. The guest speaker was Prof. Arup Kumar Chatterjee, Department of English, Jindal Global Law School, O P Jindal University, Sonepat, Haryana.

Prof Arup, who is known for his towards interdisciplinary discourse, captivated and mesmerized the audience with his talk. He spoke about Indian emissaries and entrepreneurs like Mirza Ihtishamuddin, Mirza Abu Talib Khan and Sake Deen Mahomet, who went to London and contributed to the economy of London.

The welcome address was given by the principal of the college Dr Mohammad Reyaz. The speaker was introduced by Dr Anwar Shahab, Head of the department of Political Science.

The programme was conducted by Dr Kauser Tasneem of the department of History.  Vote of thanks was given by the Head of the department of History Dr Indrasen Singh. Dr Basudhara Roy, Dr Neha Tiwari, Dr Iftekgar Nabi, Prof.Badar Ahmad, Dr Zaki Akhtar, Dr Subhash  Gupta and many other teachers graced the occasion.

The lecture was followed by the interactive session which kept the students engrossed. A total of 280 students participated in the event.
