New Education Policy to pave way for development: Jharkhand Governor

Ramesh Bais addresses conclave at RVS College 

Jamshedpur,July 8: Governor Ramesh Bais on Friday said that the New Education Policy 2020 will open new doors of development along with nation building. He noted that in the past 73 years, only experiments have been done in the education sector. However, the new policy will pave the way for quality education for children.

He was addressing a conclave on the National Education Policy 2020 organised at RVS College of Engineering and Technology (RVSCET). He said that the framers of our constitution, had mentioned that Hindi would be the national language and the medium of work would be English. But after 73 years, Hindi has become the state language, not the national language.

“First of all, we need to learn our national language. First we need to master the national language, Hindi, and then learn the other languages of foreign countries. Less privileged children are not able to study in public schools and quality education is not being imparted in all the government schools,” he noted.

Bais said that in the present education system, there is no importance to knowledge but an importance to degrees. Children get degrees, but they do not get proper knowledge. Today, knowledge is more important than degrees.In the New Education Policy, you can change your subjects as per the requirements. You can increase your knowledge by studying another subject instead of the subject you do not want to study. In the New Education Policy, dropout children have the freedom to complete their studies. If a student leaves midway due to some circumstances, then he can continue his studies from there again when the situation improves.

The Governor said that the New Education Policy will bring equality in society. He said that the Vice Chancellors of all the universities have been instructed to implement the New Education Policy 2020 in Jharkhand. Efforts are being made to implement the new education policy in the state.

Earlier, Sarla Birla University Vice Chancellor Gopal Pathak said that innovation, creativity, research have been promoted in the new education policy. He stated that it is the responsibility of educators to put the New Education Policy into action.

Vijay Pandey, Vice Chancellor of Jharkhand University of Technology, PK Nanda, Vice Chancellor of Education and Research University, addressed the conclave. The Chairman of the college, Binda Singh, welcomed the Governor. The guests were welcomed by the secretary of the college, Bharat Singh, while the vote of thanks was given by the principal of the college, Rajesh Kumar Tiwari.
