Karim City College hosts One-Day Departmental Conference

Jamshedpur: The Post Graduate Department of Commerce at Karim City College, Jamshedpur, held a dynamic one-day Departmental Conference today, bringing together students, scholars, and faculty members for a day of academic exploration and intellectual engagement. The conference provided a vibrant platform for M.Com students to present research papers and deliberate on emerging trends and challenges in the fields of Finance and Marketing.
The conference commenced with an inaugural session graced by the presence of distinguished guests. Dr. Mohammad Reyaz, Principal of Karim City College, extended a warm welcome to the juries and participants. Among the esteemed dignitaries were Dr. D.K. Mitra, former Head of the University Department of Commerce and Business Management, and Dr. Sanjeeve Kumar Singh, Professor-In-Charge at G.C. Jain College, Chaibasa.
In his address, Dr. Reyaz praised the Department of Commerce for its initiative in organizing the conference, stating that such academic endeavors are essential for developing critical thinking and a deeper understanding of real-world challenges. “This initiative reflects our department’s commitment to fostering academic excellence and preparing students to contribute meaningfully to national development,” he noted.
Setting the tone for the day’s proceedings, Dr. Md. Moazzam Nazri, Head of the Department of Commerce, outlined the objectives of the conference and emphasized its role in nurturing scholarly inquiry. He was followed by Dr. D.K. Mitra, who defined the thematic framework of the conference, highlighting key parameters for discussion. Dr. Sanjeeve Kumar Singh shared valuable perspectives on the relevance of the chosen topics, reinforcing the importance of bridging theoretical knowledge with market realities.
The academic sessions witnessed enthusiastic participation from 76 M.Com students, who presented well-researched papers addressing various contemporary issues in Finance and Marketing. Their presentations reflected a blend of analytical depth and practical insight, engaging both peers and faculty in meaningful dialogue.
Faculty members played an instrumental role in guiding and evaluating the student presentations. Among them were Major (Dr.) Fakhruddin Ahmad, Dr. G. Vijalakshmi, Dr. Syed Zahid Perwaiz, Dr. Rashmi Akhtar, Dr. Aftab Alam, Dr. Fouzia Tabassum, Prof. Rashid Iquabal Ansari, and Dr. Sajeed Perwaiz, all of whom contributed significantly to the conference’s smooth execution and scholarly rigor.
The day-long program was adeptly moderated by Dr. Rashmi Akhtar, whose thoughtful conduct ensured the event maintained an engaging and structured flow. The conference concluded on a note of gratitude with Dr. Syed Zahid Perwaiz delivering the formal vote of thanks, acknowledging the contributions of guests, faculty, and students alike.
