Karim City College Bengali department commemorates Tagore on birth anniversary

Jamshedpur, May 9: Karim City College’s Bengali department commemorated the birth anniversary of Rabindranath Tagore with a program held on campus. The event was graced by the presence of the college’s principal, Dr. Mohammad Reyaz. Not only Bengali-speaking students, but students from other language departments also participated in the program to pay tribute to Rabindranath Tagore, who wrote the country’s National anthem.

Professor of Bengali, Omprakash Singh Deo, welcomed the guest teachers and students before the gathering and introduced Tagore. Dr. BN Tripathi, the Head of the Bengali Department, spoke about Rabindranath Tagore, describing him as a globally renowned personality and a literary figure who gave form to the emotions of human minds in his works. He further stated that Tagore’s creations embodied every flavor of life.

In his address to the gathering, Dr. Mohammad Reyaz, the college principal, highlighted Rabindranath Tagore’s significant contribution to literature and poetry. He pointed out that Tagore’s book, Gitanjali, had won him the Nobel Prize, and his work had been translated into numerous languages, including Arabic and Urdu. Tagore’s composition of the national anthem of India is a testament to his greatness as a writer and a litterateur. The event was also attended by Professor of Psychology, Dr. Firoz Ibrahimi, and Professor of Urdu, Mohammad Isa. The program ended with a vote of thanks proposed by Omprakash Singh Dev.
