Jamshedpur: The Tata Steel Tour Championship 2024 was inaugurated at the Golmuri Golf Course in Jamshedpur on Tuesday morning with the customary cake-cutting done by the Chief Guest & PGTI President Kapil Dev, former Union Minister Arjun Munda and D B Sundara Ramam, VP, Raw Materials Division, Tata Steel & Jamshedpur Golf Captain.
Later in the evening, former Indian cricket captain and legendary all-rounder Kapil Dev visited the JRD Tata Sports Complex to participate in the PGTI Golf Putting Championship. Gaganjeet Bhullar emerged victorious in the Putting Competition held at the JRD Tata Sports Complex in Jamshedpur.
The presence of the cricketing icon attracted a large crowd, including families and young sports enthusiasts.
Kapil thanked the people of Jamshedpur for their overwhelming support for the sport.
Reflecting on the gathering, Kapil said, “It is heartening to see such passion for golf, comparable to the fervor seen in cricket matches.”
Speaking to reporters, Kapil shared his delight over the rising popularity of golf, which he noted was once considered a niche sport.
Kapil Dev’s visit to the JRD Tata Sports Complex became a memorable moment for many children training there in various sports. Upon learning about the legendary cricketer’s presence, a large number of children and their families gathered to catch a glimpse of him. The young sports enthusiasts were thrilled to interact with Kapil and eagerly sought his autograph, making the evening a joyous occasion for everyone.
