Gamharia: The Mukhiya of Kandra panchayat Shankari Singh led local women to carry out an awareness rally against illicit liquor, its manufacturing and sale on Monday.
Around 300 women participated in the rally. They visited the entire panchayat and appealed to people to lend support to the cause. They asked the people to help them create a liquor-free panchayat in Kandra.
A memorandum was given to the officer in-charge of Kandra police station in this connection.
Action was sought against those distilling and selling illicit liquor.
Among those present on the occasion included Anil Singh, Preeti Kumari, Reeta Devi, Anita Shukla, Poonam Devi, Abha Devi, Maini Mahato, Vindeshwari Bharati, Vidya Sagar Dubey and Chandradeep Singh.
