Jamshedpur: Following the successful rescue of entrepreneur Kairav Gandhi and the arrest of six individuals, significant revelations have surfaced during the interrogation of the gang’s mastermind, Guddu Singh, and his associates, Imran and Upendra Singh.
The suspects confessed that the abduction was meticulously planned based on a tip-off from a local Jamshedpur criminal. The gang conducted a detailed recce for nearly three months before executing the crime. The arrested kidnappers hail from Bihar’s Nalanda, Patna, and Gaya districts.
The Three-Tier Operation Interrogations revealed that the kidnapping syndicate operated through a sophisticated three-level system:
- Tier 1: Responsible for executing the actual abduction on the ground.
- Tier 2: Tasked with keeping the victim at safe houses and managing logistics at those locations.
- Tier 3: Handled the ransom negotiations by contacting the family, relatives, or friends from secured communication channels.
Police have confirmed that members from two of these levels have already been apprehended.
Confession by Guddu Singh
Guddu Singh admitted that on January 13, he, along with Upendra Singh, Mohd. Imran, Rameez Raza, and two others abducted Kairav Gandhi from the Kadma-Sonari Link Road. After the kidnapping, the responsibility to guard him was given to Arjun Singh and Mohan Kumar Prasad, while other associates managed the ransom calls.
Currently, Guddu Singh, Imran, and Rameez are undergoing treatment at MGM Hospital after being injured in a police encounter. Another suspect, Upendra Singh, is also hospitalized with a broken leg sustained while attempting to escape a police raid. Upendra Singh, a resident of Gaya, has a long criminal history with multiple cases of murder and kidnapping registered against him in Bihar, Jharkhand, and Chhattisgarh since 2009.
SSP Piyush Pandey had previously stated that six more suspects are yet to be arrested. Sources suggest that two more individuals have been detained, although official confirmation is awaited.
Kairav Gandhi was eventually abandoned by the kidnappers on the Chauparan-Barhi road at midnight on January 26 due to mounting police pressure, after which he was safely escorted back to his residence in the CH Area.
