Jamshedpur: Police are yet to make a major breakthrough in the kidnapping case of Kairav Gandhi, son of Jamshedpur-based businessman Devang Gandhi, but suspicion is now mounting over the possible involvement of the Chhotu Yadav gang, sources said on Friday.
Investigators are probing the case from multiple angles and have intensified intelligence gathering by activating a wide network of informers. According to sources, the kidnapping may have been orchestrated by Chhotu Yadav in collusion with local criminals from Jamshedpur.
Abduction Suspected on Kadma Link Road
As per preliminary information, Kairav Gandhi was allegedly abducted while his car was moving along the Kadma Link Road. Sources claim that two of the kidnappers were dressed in police uniforms, raising the possibility that the victim’s vehicle was intercepted by individuals posing as police personnel.
It is suspected that after stopping the car, the kidnappers forcibly shifted Kairav Gandhi into another vehicle and later abandoned his car near Kanderbera before fleeing. The abduction reportedly took place on January 13, and the car was recovered later that night from the Kanderbera area.
Police have formed seven special teams to trace Kairav Gandhi, with officials stating that his safe recovery remains the top priority.
Chhotu Yadav Gang Active in Bihar’s Bhagalpur
Sources further revealed that the Chhotu Yadav gang, is primarily active in Bihar’s Bhagalpur district. Police are examining the gang’s past criminal activities and possible links to operatives in Jharkhand.
JDU Submits Memorandum, Seeks Swift Recovery
Meanwhile, the kidnapping has drawn political attention, with Janata Dal (United) (JDU) demanding immediate action. Party leaders submitted a memorandum to the police, urging the swift recovery of Kairav Gandhi and the arrest of the kidnappers.
A JDU delegation led by district president Subodh Srivastava visited the SSP office and handed over the memorandum to City SP Kumar Shivashish.
In the memorandum, JDU leaders expressed serious concern over Kairav Gandhi’s safety and said the business community has been deeply shaken by the incident. They urged the police to act decisively to trace the victim at the earliest and restore confidence among traders.
Police officials have reiterated that intensive efforts are underway and assured that all leads, including the suspected gang angle, are being thoroughly investigated.
