Ranchi, Jan 17: For the first time since its formation a quarter-century ago, Jharkhand has taken its place on the global stage, marking a historic debut at the World Economic Forum (WEF) Annual Meeting 2026 in Davos.
Led by Chief Minister Hemant Soren, the state’s participation underscores a clear intent to engage the world with confidence, purpose and a forward-looking development vision.
Ahead of the five-day global conclave, the Jharkhand government delegation on Saturday conducted an inspection of the state’s dedicated pavilion, located within the India Pavilion complex at Davos.
Designed as a focal point for dialogue and collaboration, the pavilion will host interactions with global business leaders, policymakers, investors and international institutions from January 19 to 23.
The World Economic Forum 2026 is expected to draw heads of state, industry leaders and thought pioneers to deliberate on some of the most urgent global challenges, including climate action, energy transition and equitable economic growth.
Jharkhand’s presence at this influential gathering marks a significant expansion of the state’s international outreach.

At Davos, Jharkhand will showcase its priorities in electric mobility, energy security, environment and forests, bio-economy and women’s empowerment—areas that reflect its commitment to sustainability, a just transition and inclusive development.
The state will also highlight its strengths in renewable energy, responsible use of natural resources, nature-based tourism and community-centric growth models.

Officials said the Chief Minister and senior members of the delegation will hold high-level meetings with global corporations, development partners and impact investors to explore partnerships in clean energy, sustainable industries, manufacturing and innovation.
Recent policy reforms, ease-of-doing-business initiatives and investment-ready projects will be presented to position Jharkhand as a credible and progressive investment destination.
Jharkhand’s debut at WEF 2026 is more than a symbolic milestone; it is a statement of intent.
As the state steps into Davos for the first time, it seeks to redefine its narrative—from a resource-rich heartland to a globally engaged state anchored in sustainability, inclusivity and long-term economic transformation.
