Jamshedpur, Jan 20: Kadma police have unravelled the firing on a youth at Bhatia Basti in Kadma to be that of an accidental firing by a group of friends in a hurry to see an illegal firearm.
Police have also proved that the injured youth Kanhu Sawai who had a bullet stuck in his back had tried to defend his friends by concocting a story that he was shot at by bike borne youths and that he was unable to see their face as they were wearing mask.
Police have arrested Kanhu Sawai who is undergoing treatment under police custody and his friends Giri Rao and Purushottam Singh and also recovered the pistol from which the accidental firing had taken place and also recovered the cartridge. Police have also found the blood samples fallen at the site and blood soaked cloth pieces.
Headquarter DSP Arvind Kumar on Wednesday informed reporters that on January 18 night at around 12 firing had taken place near Kusumnagar Ghora Chowk near Bhatia Basti in Kadma in which Kanhu Sawai was injured and was admitted at MGM Hospital from where he was referred to Tata Main Hospital.
However, during interrogation the injured youth disclosed that they were under the influence of liquor and in the excitement of seeing an illegal pistol and while snatching it the bullet had accidentally been fired resulting in injury.
