Gamharia, July 31: Local women today formed Kanchan Azad Ajivika Mahila Gram Sangathan (KAAMGS) under the Jharkhand State Livelihood Promotion Society program. A meeting was organized wherein Shakti Devi (president), Bulbul Tantubai (secretary) and Hiramani Hansda (treasurer) were elected unanimously.
Assistant Administrator Satyapado Tripathy who was present on the occasion informed that the Rural Development Department had launched the initiative to provide rural women with self employment opportunities. The norms stipulate a minimum of five and maximum 20 members to form such women’s units. Twenty one Panchayats will have five clusters in Gamharia Block. So far, two such units have been formed in Kandra and one in Tentoposi.
The office of KAAMGS was also inaugurated on the occasion. Mukhiya Shankar Singh, Deputy Mukhiya Subodh Singh, Panchayat Samiti member Honi Singh Munda and social worker Munna Mandal were honoured by the newly formed organization. Mahila Mandal convener Sunita Pramanik, community coordinator Hiramani Hansda and Onkarnath Mahto helped in organizing the events.
