Ranchi: The Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission (JSSC) is facing severe criticism after a major lapse came to light in the conduct of the Jharkhand Industrial Training Officer competitive examination held from 27 to 29 November 2023. Thousands of candidates participated in the examination, with some individuals attempting the test on all three days.
The controversy stems from the revelation that several candidates had applied multiple times for the same position. Compounding the issue, JSSC, due to its negligence, issued admit cards to these candidates several times, causing confusion among the applicants. Unaware of the discrepancies, candidates appeared for the exam on the dates specified in the various admit cards they received.
Upon discovering the extent of the error, JSSC took action by canceling the applications of 310 candidates. In an official notice, the Commission stated that these individuals had submitted multiple applications for the same post and had also appeared for the examination. To rectify the situation, the Commission considered the last application made by these candidates as valid and subsequently canceled all their earlier applications.
Neelkamal, a candidate who participated in the exam, revealed that candidates had lodged complaints with the Commission regarding the issue of multiple appearances by the same individual in the examination. Acknowledging these complaints, the Commission canceled more than one application for 310 candidates and released the answer key.
Expressing concern over the gross negligence, Neelkamal urged the Commission to avoid such errors in the future. The cancellation of applications has sparked discontent among the affected candidates, and the incident has raised questions about the integrity of the examination process. The Commission now faces the challenge of restoring confidence among aspirants and ensuring that such mistakes are not repeated in future examinations.
