Gamharia, Oct 30: Jharkhand State pollution Board (JSPB) organized a public hearing at Palubera in connection with the expansion programme of Amalgam Steel and Power Ltd at Kandra. ADC Subodh Kumar, while presiding the meeting said that the public hearing programme was a process through which villagers could express their views to the government in the event of the establishment or expansion of any company and these would be reported to the government.
Chief Executive Officer of Amalgam Steel, Balram Krishna said that the management had always ensured that the plant was pollution free and discharging its social responsibilities effectively and would continue in the same vein. He added that the company was using the latest technology to maintain a pollution free atmosphere.
Balram Krishna said that Amalgam Steel was committed to community uplift and would continue to work in all social parameters including drinking water facilities, education and health through its CSR team. “We are also in talks to provide technical training facilities to rural youth. With the expansion of the company, about 1,500 people will get employment opportunities directly and indirectly priority for which will be given to the local people,” informed the company’s CEO.

Earlier, local problems were placed before the management and administration by many villagers and public representatives. Many villagers including Zila Parishad member Sudhir Chandra Mahto, Mukhiya Sokhen Hembram, Shankari Singh, Kandra’s Honi Singh Munda, Congress leader Prakash Raju, Jawahar Lal Mahali, JMM District Vice President Ram Mahato, BJP leader Rashmi Sahu, Palubera village head Dharmu Majhi and others expressed happiness over the expansion [plan of the company.
On this occasion, JSPB Ranchi’s Officer Sanjay Srivastav, Pollution Department’s Jamshedpur Officer Jitendra Kumar Singh, Gamharia Circle Officer Manoj Kumar, Circle Inspector Manoj Kumar Singh, company’s HR Manager Amit Ranjan Sinha, Basant Kumar, Tejpal Singh, Displaced Persons’ Committee members Manoj Mahto, Keshav Mahto, Ramakant Mahto, Vinay Mahto, Vijay Mahto, Village Head Narendra Mahto, BJP leader Ganesh Mahali, Amit Singhdev, JMM Central Member Krishna Baskey, District Vice President Ram Hansda, Bappa Patro and others were present along with a large number of local villagers.
