JSCA boss plays cool as opponents queer his pitch at Keenan

Jamshedpur: Jharkhand State Cricket Association president Amitabh Choudhary looked an unfazed man on Sunday even as his opponents protested his decisions as the boss of the state cricketing body in steel city outside Keenan Stadium.

Choudhary, former IPS officer, was present at the Keenan Stadium ground this evening during the prize distribution ceremony of Jamshedpur schools and clubs for the JSCA league matches and tournaments.

Asked to comment on the continuing protests against him and Rajesh Verma, JSCA secretary, Choudhary said, I am least bothered about the goings-on. Having been a police officer, I know who is what and the level of such people.
Choudhary, who faces strong protest by his opponents, many of whom were shown the door in the JSCA annual general meeting held recently, said he had tried his best to upgrade Keenan Stadium to international levels by including surrounding area to fulfill the mandatory criteria of ICC to meet the dimensional benchmark.

I had to get three ODIs from Jamshedpur to Cuttack as there was no stadium available there. I had tried hard to get the matches played here but of no avail, Choudhary lamented.

Choudhary said he had succeeded in organizing two ODIs in a year in Ranchi whereas one had to wait for at least three years to get an ODI.

Choudhary said the JSCA headquarters will continue to be in Jamshedpur till he stays president of the cricketing body. He said he was not going to yield to the pressures of opponents trying to cast slurs on him.

Choudhary said he had tried his best to get land at the city outskirts in Hata for building a stadium. The land could not be procured despite an all-out effort put in by me. Eventually I had to shift my plans to Ranchi, he said.
