Chaibasa, March 7: A team from Anti-corruption Bureau (ACB) from Jamshedpur today arrested a junior engineer and clerk of Drinking Water and Sanitation Department posted at Chaibasa in West Singhbhum district for accepting Rs 8,000 as bribe from a contractor.
In this connection, the ACB’s divisional office in Jamshedpur had received a complaint from Pankaj Kumar Jha, proprietor of Narmada Construction Pvt. Ltd on Friday.
Deputy superintendent of police (ACB) Amar Pandey said the junior engineer Ram Preet and the clerk Ranjit Singh had received Rs 5,000 and Rs 3,000 bribe for releasing a bill against a work of hand-pump boring carried out by the complainant’s firm.
The accused had demanded Rs 1 lakh as bribe. He was nabbed by the team red handed in the office in Chaibasa.
