Ranchi: In a significant decision, the Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) has opted to conduct three civil examinations concurrently, encompassing the 11th, 12th, and 13th Combined Civil Services Examinations for the years 2021, 2022, and 2023, respectively. Following the receipt of the proposal from the Personnel Department, the commission has initiated preparations for the exams, and an official advertisement for the examination will be released soon.
This move comes as the JPSC aims to fill a total of 349 posts, comprising 342 regular and 7 backlogged positions. The last time the commission organized a similar endeavor was for the 7th, 8th, 9th, and 10th Combined Civil Services Examinations for the years 2017, 2018, 2019, and 2020.
Under the revised rules of 2021, the Civil Services Preliminary Examination (PT) will be administered. As per the proposal from the Personnel Department, the vacant posts up to December 31, 2022, will be filled through these examinations. The Preliminary Examinations for the 11th, 12th, and 13th Civil Services are expected to be held in April and May 2024.
In terms of departmental allocations, there are 63 vacant posts in the Commercial Tax Department, including 56 regular positions and 7 backlog positions, included in the Civil Services Preliminary Examination. However, departments such as Jharkhand Social Security Service, Jharkhand Information Service, Jharkhand Registration Service, Jharkhand Planning Service, and Jharkhand Municipal Service have been excluded due to zero vacancies until December 31, 2022.
In a separate development, the JPSC will conduct the Civil Services (Backlog) Preliminary Examination (PT) on January 21, 2024, after approximately seven years. This examination will cater to a total of 10 posts, with 8 examination centers established in the capital, Ranchi. However, applications from 4261 candidates have been canceled for various reasons, and admit cards have been issued to 3400 eligible candidates for the upcoming examination.
