Jamshedpur, July 10: The final result of the Jharkhand Combined Civil Services Examination-2023 (JPSC) has once again been delayed, causing growing concern among thousands of candidates awaiting the outcome. Mounting demands for a thorough investigation into alleged irregularities have stalled the result’s release, with the Jharkhand government now stepping in to seek clarifications from the Jharkhand Public Service Commission.

In the latest development, the state government has written to the JPSC, urging a point-wise response to the allegations. Strict instructions have been issued to provide a detailed report addressing all aspects of the controversy.

Governor’s directive following complaint by former CM
The issue gained momentum after former Chief Minister Raghubar Das lodged a formal complaint with the Governor, highlighting potential discrepancies in the evaluation process. Responding to the complaint, the Governor instructed the JPSC to act in accordance with the rules and directed the Raj Bhavan to alert the state government. The Raj Bhavan also recommended a comprehensive investigation into the alleged irregularities in the evaluation of answer sheets.

Personnel Department steps in
Following the Governor’s intervention and increasing public concern, the Department of Personnel and Administrative Reforms has also demanded a point-wise inquiry report from JPSC. A formal letter has been issued, urging the commission to clarify the situation.

Interviews and medicals already completed
JPSC has already conducted interviews of 864 candidates who cleared the 11th to 13th main examinations. The verification of certificates and medical examinations of shortlisted candidates have also been completed. With these steps finalized, only the declaration of the final result remained.

Delay tied to ongoing demands for inquiry
Sources indicated that while JPSC was technically ready to publish the final list, it was hesitant due to fears that an ongoing or future investigation might uncover irregularities. Such a situation could lead to the cancellation of the result, further complicating the matter.

Legal hurdles continue
Previously, a group of candidates had filed a petition in the Jharkhand High Court regarding alleged discrepancies in answer sheet evaluation. The petition was dismissed, but the legal proceedings had already delayed the result. The petitioners were now reportedly planning to appeal the decision before a double bench, which could further stall the release.

Amid this prolonged uncertainty, lakhs of aspirants continued to wait anxiously for the final outcome of the JPSC-2023 examination. (w/gsd)
