Jamshedpur: In a bid to enhance passenger security, the Railway Protection Force (RPF) and Government Railway Police (GRP) have initiated measures to tighten surveillance at Tatanagar and Adityapur railway stations. A joint inspection will soon be conducted by Chakradharpur Division RPF Senior Commandant PS Kutti and Tatanagar Railway SP Praveen Pushkar to formulate a comprehensive security plan.
The blueprint will focus on monitoring every inch of the stations, ensuring passenger safety and protecting railway property. It will be submitted to South East Zone Headquarters, following which CCTV cameras, vehicle scanners and luggage scanners will be installed at Adityapur station. Additionally, face-detection cameras may be introduced to track criminals.
Currently, Tatanagar station is equipped with CCTV cameras and luggage scanners at both gates, along with vehicle scanners at the main entrance. However, security at Adityapur is being prioritized as it is being developed as a terminal station for Tatanagar. The South East Zone had requested a proposal in January for implementing an Integrated Security System at Adityapur Satellite Station.
“Security measures will be reinforced at 99 stations following Tatanagar’s model. Plans are underway to install an integrated security system covering platforms and station surroundings,” said Railway SP Praveen Pushkar.
As part of the Adityapur upgradation, a dozen trains are expected to operate from the station. Facilities such as high platforms, a rest house, foot overbridge, portico, parking, ticket centre, sheds, water booths, toilets and an RPF station have already been set up to enhance passenger convenience and safety.
