Jamshedpur: In a shocking revelation, over 1500 youths in Govindpur fell prey to a job scam, where they were duped of lakhs of rupees under the guise of employment. The victims, frustrated by the lack of police action, rallied under BJP leader Vimal Baitha and met with the Deputy Commissioner, demanding swift measures.
The scam involved collecting Rs 5,000 as security money from each victim, promising them jobs with a hi-tech company. Despite working for two to three months, the deceived individuals never received their salaries. Ravi Kumar, the elusive owner of the company, has been unresponsive to requests for payment, leaving victims in financial distress.
Aarti, one of the victims, recounted depositing Rs 5,000 at Hari Om Academic Center for data entry work promised by the hi-tech company. Despite assurances of an Rs 8,500 monthly salary, the victims remain unpaid. The fraudulent company operates in three locations across the city, with Govindpur alone accounting for 1500 victims.
BJP leader Vimal Baitha highlighted that a formal complaint was lodged on December 17, and despite an extension granted to the company owner until December 20, no refunds have been initiated. The victims have submitted a memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner, warning of impending protests if action is not taken within a week.
