Jamshedpur, April 3: Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee (JNAC) intensified its efforts to remove encroachments for the second consecutive day. Yesterday, a sum of Rs 37,000 was collected, followed by an additional Rs 9,000 today.

The operation commenced near Sakchi Bengal Club and extended to Sakchi Main Road and the Mango Plantation area, targeting encroachments on footpaths and roads.

Special Officer Arvind Tirkey emphasized the daily continuation of the campaign, which involves issuing warnings through sound devices to clear encroachments. If non-compliance persists, the department confiscates the goods. Encroachments include commercial hoarding boards and items placed outside shops beyond their designated areas.

During the operation, shopkeepers were seen hastily removing encroachments, while JNAC’s flying squad and JCB were deployed to enforce clearance. Publicity boards obstructing roads were dismantled, and fines ranging from Rs 500 to Rs 4,000 were levied on violators.

With Rs 46,000 recovered over two days, officials reiterated their commitment to the ongoing drive, emphasizing the necessity of unhindered transportation free from encumbrances caused by encroachments on footpaths.
