JNAC Unveils ‘Green Roadmap’: ₹1.95 Crore Slated for Jamshedpur’s Infrastructure Overhaul

Jamshedpur

The Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee (JNAC) has officially finalized its ambitious ‘Green Roadmap’ aimed at upgrading the city’s infrastructure and boosting its green cover. Funded by the 15th Finance Commission, three major development projects worth approximately ₹1.95 crore are scheduled to commence this July.

Key Highlights of the Project

  • Mass Plantation Drive: Over 2,000 saplings will be planted across the Bagunhatu and Nimdih areas.
  • New Road Construction: Two major roads will be constructed in Kadma to ease traffic congestion.
  • Mandatory Security & Maintenance: A strict three-year maintenance clause has been introduced for contracting agencies to ensure sapling survival.

Strict Maintenance Clauses Introduced Following Past Failures

Learning from previous plantation failures where saplings dried up due to negligence—such as the recent Sonari Marine Drive initiative—JNAC has introduced a mandatory “Plantation with Security” rule.

According to Krishna Kumar, Deputy Municipal Commissioner of JNAC: “Contracting agencies will now be strictly responsible for the maintenance, protection, and survival of the saplings for a period of three years post-plantation. Iron fencing (barbed wire) will be installed around the plantation zones. The work must be completed within the next six months.”

A budget of ₹91.61 lakh has been specifically allocated for the plantation and fencing drive in the Bagunhatu and Nimdih regions.

Infrastructure Boost: New Roads to De-congest Kadma

To tackle the rising traffic pressure in the city, JNAC has sanctioned ₹1.03 crore for road infrastructure. Two vital roads will be developed in Kadma:

  1. Block-3 to Nirmal Colony: A new road connecting Shastri Nagar Main Road (Block-3) to Nirmal Colony will be built at an estimated cost of ₹69.59 lakh.
  2. Bhatia Basti to Shiv Path: A bituminous (tar) road will be constructed behind Durgabari up to Mahavir Shiv Path, utilizing a budget of ₹34.31 lakh.

Both road construction projects have a strict completion deadline of six months.
