Jamshedpur, Jan 14: Masses are caught between traffic police and civic body vendors while parking vehicles in commercial hubs resulting in people’s paying to both.
The stretch near Basant Cinema Chowk in the commercial hub of Sakchi has certain points as parking area and certain as no-parking areas. On Wednesday, Rajan Khan, a resident of Kapali in Chandil sub-division got a parking fee slip of Rs 20 as soon as he parked his car on one such stretch near Basant Cinema Chowk by the Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee (JNAC- the local civic body) vendor staff.
After a while when Rajan Khan returned to leave with his car, the traffic cops charged a challan for parking vehicle in no-parking area which created a commotion as Rajan Khan along with locals made their grievances known to the cops. The local shopkeepers after instruction of the traffic police also uprooted the parking signage erected by JNAC parking vendor.
Traffic deputy superintendent of police, Babban Singh informed that earlier there was no parking board erected at the spot but JNAC vendors erected a parking board just in front of the no-parking signage and started levying parking fees.
The traffic DSP has also informed this issue to the JNAC special officer, Krishna Kumar and city SP, Subhas Chandra Jatt.
