Covishield vaccine arrives in Seraikela

Seraikela, Jan 14: The long wait for the Covid-19 vaccine Covishield got over on Wednesday with the first lot of Covishield arriving at district headquarter.

The district health department arranged for sending the vaccine to the district cold storage unit at Chandil and to the selected session sites.

According to Seraikela-Kharsawan civil surgeon, Dr Himanshu Bhusan Barwar and the nodal officer for Covid-19 vaccination campaign, Dr Jujhar Manjhi, the district has got 614 vials of Covid-19 vaccine in the first lot and each of the vial has 10 doses of the vaccine (a total of 6140 doses).

The vaccine would be given from the six session sites, community health centres on January 16 after Prime Minister Narendra Modi launches the nationwide vaccination campaign.

In the first phase, 3985 persons from  government hospital and 1037 from private hospitals, which means a total of 5022 health workers would be given vaccine in the first lot at the session sites in Nimdih, Gamharia, Rajnagar, Kuchai, Sadar Hospital and Kharsawan. A schedule has been prepared in such a manner that each day around 100 persons would be  administered vaccine at each of the six session sites.

The nodal officer gave training to doctors and ANM nurses to deal with possible side effect after administering of the vaccine. The session centers will function between 9 am and 5 pm and will have vaccination officer.
