Jamshedpur: Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee (JNAC) has decided to confiscate and auction scrapped vehicles abandoned by their owners here and there across the city. The step is being taken to clean the city by removing unclaimed scrapped vehicles belonging to unidentified owners.
Taking the first step in this regard, a team of JNAC officials led by the Special Officer Sanjay Kumar launched a special inspection drive in Sakchi, Burmamines and adjoining areas to find out pockets of water-logging, unauthorized dumping of household discard and offences related to various municipal laws.
At Garabasa, the JNAC team found several centres washing vehicles without permission. The vehicle washing centres were found to be using water illegally and also availing electricity supply through illegal connections. We seized hose, drums and other equipments used at these centres. Water being used by them was getting accumulated in pits, thereby raising possibility of dengue and malaria breakout, said Kumar.
The JNAC officials also took action against one Sunil Yadav for throwing cow dung on streets and drains openly. They also found several scrapped vehicles at an illegal dumping yard in Garabasa. Local residents said these vehicles were lying unused for the past many years.
