JNAC tightens measures to improve Jamshedpur’s cleanliness ranking

Mail News Service

Jamshedpur: After consistently lagging in the Swachhta Survey rankings, the Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee (JNAC) has intensified its efforts to improve the city’s cleanliness. In a recent meeting chaired by the Deputy Municipal Commissioner, crucial decisions were made to curb issues like waste disposal, single-use plastic and public littering, aiming for a cleaner and more disciplined city.

JNAC has announced a complete ban on single-use plastic, a move to reduce environmental damage caused by plastic waste. Additionally, strict action will be taken against individuals dumping garbage in public places and drains. These activities not only tarnish the city’s beauty but also lead to drainage and health hazards. Under the Jharkhand Municipality Act 2011, offenders will face penalties for violating cleanliness norms.

“Our aim is not only to improve the cleanliness ranking but also to provide a healthy and clean environment to citizens. Both the administration and the public must work together for this,” said Krishna Kumar, Deputy Municipal Commissioner, JNAC.

To tackle the increasing problem of garbage dumping, JNAC has imposed a strict ban on throwing waste on roads, parks and other public spaces. Open urination and other forms of public nuisance will also be taken seriously.

Officials emphasize that citizen awareness and behavioural change are essential for sustained cleanliness improvements. With these stringent measures in place, JNAC hopes to elevate Jamshedpur’s Swachhta ranking and provide a healthier environment for its residents.
