Jamshedpur: In a major step towards modernization, the Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee (JNAC) has decided to digitize the city’s parking system to make it more transparent, efficient and corruption-free. A review meeting chaired by Suburban Commissioner Krishna Kumar on Thursday, in the presence of key officials, finalized the decision to move the parking settlement process online.
As part of this initiative, a meeting was held with MSTC Limited, Jharkhand Branch, an e-auction company under the Government of India. It was decided that all parking allocations will now be conducted through an online process, eliminating the role of middlemen and ensuring fairness.
“With digitalization, we aim to curb irregularities and corruption while making the process simpler and faster. The e-auction system will ensure fair competition and increase municipal revenue,” said Krishna Kumar, deputy municipal commissioner.
Under the new system, interested applicants can apply for parking spaces online from anywhere. Parking areas will be equipped with digital payment facilities, QR code scanning and online ticketing, making parking hassle-free for citizens. An e-auction portal will be developed in collaboration with MSTC Ltd., allowing bidders to register and participate in auctions digitally.
Additionally, JNAC is formulating a plan to implement smart parking solutions across the city, ensuring better space utilization and ease of access for vehicle owners.
