Jamshedpur, Feb 14: Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee (JNAC), in its effort to improve cleanliness in the city through various modes of awareness drives in various parts of Jamshedpur including market areas. It is also trying to streamline garbage collection from door-to-door of households. Simultaneously, JNAC is coming down heavily on those who are obstinately littering public places and such elements are being fined.
Households and shopkeepers have been asked to categorize garbage in the forms of blue bins for dry waste, green for wet waste, black for hazardous domestic waste and red bins for sanitary waste. The JNAC authorities, in the guidelines have warned that action would be taken against households not segregating wastes.
Supervisors and drivers of garbage collection vans who have maintained their vehicles in immaculate conditions were honoured by City Manager Sonal Singh Chauhan. Supervisors who had fared excellently while discharging their responsibility and included in the list of honour included Chandan Kumar Singh (Sonari area), Sushant Majumdar (Golmuri area) and Ganga Das (JEMCO area).The garbage pickup vehicle drivers who had maintained their vehicles in immaculate conditions, were also honoured and they included Kundan Kumar, Subhash Dhanawat and Ravindra Kumar. Sanitation Expert Saurabh Kumar was also present on the occasion.
