JNAC holds meeting to discuss Jamshedpur’s comprehensive development plans

Efforts to make Swarnarekha River pollution-free

Jamshedpur: In a significant stride towards the holistic development of Jamshedpur, the Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee (JNAC) Stakeholder Committee recently convened a crucial meeting under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Manjunath Bhajantri. The meeting, held at the Collectorate Auditorium, witnessed the active participation of MLA Jamshedpur East Saryu Roy, Minister cum MLA, MLA representative of Jamshedpur West, and a representative of MP Jamshedpur.

The meeting covered a spectrum of crucial topics, with presentations shedding light on key projects integral to the city’s progress. Among the notable discussions were presentations on Jamshedpur’s Waste Water Management, the Moharda Water Supply Scheme, the Riverfront Development Project, and the City Bus Operation.

In attendance were SDM Dhalbhum Piyush Sinha, Deputy Municipal Commissioner of JNAC, representatives from Tata Company, and other stakeholders, underscoring the collaborative efforts for Jamshedpur’s advancement.

A pivotal focus of the meeting was the district administration’s endeavor to make the Swarnarekha River pollution-free. A comprehensive presentation on ‘Jamshedpur Waste Water Management’ outlined plans to treat drain water from various urban areas before it flows into the Swarnarekha River. The action plan, aiming to address sewage issues, identified 18 drains associated with domestic and industrial wastewater. Detailed discussions on Sewage Treatment Plants (STP) and Faecal Sludge Treatment Plants (FSTP) under the 15th Finance Commission were also held.

The presentation on the Moharda Water Supply Scheme delved into strategies for supplying water to high-altitude areas. Additionally, the Riverfront Development Project, spanning from Bhojpur Ghat to District School Ghat along the Swarnarekha River, was discussed. Matters such as ghat beautification, designated Aarti sites, seating arrangements, toilets for the disabled and third gender, among others, were addressed, with valuable suggestions from the committee.

In the realm of urban transport, a presentation on the City Bus Operation highlighted potential routes for effective bus services. The committee stressed the importance of optimizing routes to benefit the maximum number of citizens.

Bhajantri expressed the district administration’s commitment to implementing these essential schemes promptly. He affirmed, “All the schemes regarding the expansion of civic amenities are very important, and the district administration will try to implement them as soon as possible in the interest of the people of Jamshedpur city, ensuring they reap the benefits.” The meeting concluded with a shared vision for Jamshedpur’s continued progress and prosperity.
