Jamshedpur, Nov 3: A crucial meeting was held today under the chairmanship of Krishna Kumar, Deputy Municipal Commissioner of the Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee (JNAC), to review and strengthen the city’s waste management system. Sanitation Supervisors, contractors and the City Manager were present during the session.

The meeting’s primary objective was to ensure 100% door-to-door waste collection across all city wards, with a special focus on including every basti and slum area within this system. Krishna Kumar directed that every household — whether in a slum or an organized colony — must have daily segregation and collection of wet and dry waste.

He instructed all sanitation supervisors to conduct awareness campaigns to educate residents on waste segregation at source and to ensure consistent monitoring. Contractors were asked to deploy adequate vehicles and sanitation staff for efficient waste collection.

It was also decided that GPS-based tracking and Swachhta App reporting would be used for daily monitoring of waste collection activities in slum areas. Emphasizing collective responsibility, Kumar stated that achieving the goal of a “Clean Jamshedpur” required teamwork, ensuring that every settlement, neighborhood and home remained clean and hygienic.
