JNAC Demolishes Illegal Constructions in Sonari and Dhatkidih

Jamshedpur: Adopting a zero-tolerance policy against unauthorised development, the Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee (JNAC) carried out a demolition drive in Sonari on Wednesday. This follows a similar crackdown in the Dhatkidih area, where officials demolished structures built without approved building plans.

Demolition Near Sonari Post Office

Acting on specific intelligence, the JNAC team reached Holding No. 152 near the Sonari Post Office. They found ongoing construction for a building that lacked both official permission and a sanctioned map.

  • Lack of Documents: When officials demanded valid permits and architectural approvals, those on-site failed to produce any legal documentation.
  • The Action: Consequently, the administration deployed a JCB machine to pull down the illegal structure immediately.

Crackdown in Dhatkidih

Prior to the Sonari drive, JNAC targeted the Dhatkidih locality. The JNAC officials penalised developers for “map deviation”—building beyond the limits set by their approved plans—and constructing without primary permits.

Official Warning: “Rules Must be Followed”

JNAC Deputy Municipal Commissioner (DMC) Krishna Kumar issued a stern warning to developers and house owners across Jamshedpur. He emphasised that the administration is maintaining a constant vigil on all construction activities to ensure they comply with urban bylaws.

“Illegal construction will not be tolerated under any circumstances. We will continue to take strict action against those who bypass the law,” said DMC Krishna Kumar.

The enforcement team included Town Planner Apurva Tomar, City Manager Joy Guria, Special Officer Tanish Hans, and a contingent of the local police force.
