Building owners face action for violating approved plans
Jamshedpur: The Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee (JNAC) took strict action against illegal construction in Sonari on Tuesday, sealing four buildings for violating approved building plans. The crackdown was carried out on the orders of Suburban Commissioner Krishna Kumar after building owners failed to respond to prior notices.
The enforcement team, led by JNAC town planner Chetan Lal and city manager Joy Gudiya, found that most owners had approval for a ground-plus-two-storey structure but were constructing four to five floors instead. Upon inspection, the team sealed these buildings in Sonari West Layout, halting further construction.
Building Owners Given 48 Hours to Respond
Following the sealing, the building owners have been issued fresh notices, requiring them to submit their explanations within 48 hours at the JNAC office. If the responses are unsatisfactory, further legal action will be taken under the Jharkhand Building Bylaws 2016 and the Jharkhand Municipality Act.
More Buildings Under Investigation
Meanwhile, JNAC has also launched an extensive survey in Sakchi and its surrounding areas, including the New Court Complex, Baradwari, and Mango Garden. Several high-rise buildings in these areas are suspected of violating construction norms. A list of such buildings has been prepared, and JNAC is expected to take action against them soon.
