JNAC constructs immersion ponds for Durga Puja

Jamshedpur, Oct 22: The tradition of immersing worship materials in water during the auspicious Durga Puja festival has been ongoing. Over time, there has been a change in the worship materials, with a growing trend of using items made from plastic and other materials. To prevent the immersion of worship materials into the river, the Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee (JNAC) has been constructing immersion ponds at the ghats since 2018.

Regarding this initiative, Piyush Sinha, the Deputy Administrator of JNAC, explained that a total of eight immersion ponds are being built at the ghats. Worship materials should be immersed in these designated ponds to ensure the completion of the puja ritual and to protect the rivers from pollution. JNAC, in collaboration with Tata Steel UAIL, is actively involved in cleaning the sites and constructing these immersion ponds across all ghats.

The construction of these immersion ponds is being overseen by Nagar Prabandhak Kristina Kacchap, Assistant Engineer Amit Anand, and Junior Engineer Beirendra Hembram.
